MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, Mar.9 (PIA)—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) distributed the Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) to 698 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) comprising about 707.3204 hectares of land in Misamis Occidental at Tudela Gymnasium, March 7.
DAR Secretary John Castriciones, who led the invaluable activity, said the department would exhaust all its resources to provide support services projects to the ARBs because they are the ones who are providing food security in the country, especially during trying times such as the pandemic.
Castriocenes said he personally handed over land titles to farmers because the government loves the farmers.
"You are now the new owners of the land and you are no longer just ordinary farmers," he said.
Castriciones assured the farmer-beneficiaries that they could count on the government for the much needed support services that would help maximize the potential of their farm lots.
(We believe that the farmers are one of the heroes of our country. The task of a farmer is difficult because he toils even under the heat of the sun; he bends the whole day just to finish his job in the farm, and the farmers are the reason why we have food on our table. The farmers should be given aid; we should help the farmers so their lives will also improve)
OIC Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Rolando Libetario, Jr. said, "This CLOA is proof that you are now the owners of the land given by the government through DAR.”
Libetario further urged the beneficiaries of the CLOA to cultivate the land and make it productive in order to alleviate their respective households from poverty.
For his part, Governor Philip Tan lauded the leadership of PRRD for helping the farmers. “Kung kini lang produktibo, dako na kaayo ni ikatabang sa probinsya. Kini gasa para kaninyo unta ato ning amumahan ug kami sa gobyerno maningkamot nga matabangan kung unsaon pag-asenso sa atong mag-uuma,” Tan said.
(If it is only productive, it will help the province a lot. This is a gift for you so let's take care of it and we in the government will try to help in improving the lives of the farmers)
During his short visit in the province, Castriciones also distributed farm machineries and equipment such as 2 dump tracks, 4 farm tractors, 4 power sprayers, 4 grass cutters and 4 vermitea grower to agrarian reform beneficiaries organization.
“This is a dream come true. The farm is finally mine. This is an advance gift for all farmers. I am thankful to President Duterte and DAR Secretary John Castriciones for making this happen,” said Simeon Saluta, a tenant from Aloran for 30 years, who expressed his gratitude after receiving the CLOA from DAR.
