LGU Taraka builds Library Hub as learning refuge for children 

MARAWI CITY, Mar. 29 (PIA)--Underscoring the importance of quality education amidst the pandemic, mayor Nashiba Sumagayan of Taraka in Lanao del Sur said they built a library hub to serve as a learning refuge for teachers and learners.

"Honestly speaking, sa ating lugar may kakulangan sa pasilidad like yung mga devices and internet connectivity so we tried to establish this library hub para naman may matakbuhan ang ating mga guro and learners para dun sila makagamit ng resources," she shared during Monday's Network Briefing News with Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.

[Honestly speaking, in our area there is a lack of facilities like devices and internet connectivity so we tried to establish this library hub so that our teachers and learners have a place to run where they can use resources.]

Meant to supplement the learning modules, Sumagayan said the library hub provides a variety of books and desktop computers with internet connectivity.

The local government of Taraka also conducts reading activities in the library hub including storytelling audio-visual presentations to improve the reading proficiency and expand the vocabulary of children.

"But we see to it na inoobserve natin ang [that we observe the] minimum health protocols para sa [for the] safety ng ating mga [of our] teachers and learners," the mayor assured.

Meanwhile, Sumagayan thanked Synergeia Foundation and other development partners for donating books and other materials to the library hub.

"The hope of our nation lies in the education of our children kaya nga despite the pandemic, even if the pandemic seems to be immobilizing our world, we are still doing our best na mabigyan natin ng quality education ang ating mga learners," she emphasized.
