CAMIGUIN, Mar. 29 (PIA)--Based on the Municipal Level Assessment, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Camiguin Provincial Office named five barangays in the province that have shown exemplary performance in settling disputes at the barangay level through the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP).
The local government units (LGUs) include Barangay Mainit, Catarman; Barangay Liong, Guinsiliban; Barangay Pontod, Mahinog; Barangay Pandan, Mambajao; and Barangay Balite, Sagay.
The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) aims to institutionalize a system of granting benefits and other incentives to the Lupong Tagapamayapa.
The criteria for the assessment include (1) efficiency in operations, (2) effectiveness in securing the settlement of interpersonal dispute, (3) creativity and resourcefulness of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, (4) area or facility of KP activities, and (5) financial or non-financial support.
The LTIA-Provincial Assessment Team is composed of representatives from the DILG, Department of Justice (DOJ), Philippine National Police (PNP) and a selected civil society organization (CSO). (RTP/PIA10)
