More Iligan private hospitals continue Sinovac inoculation

ILIGAN CITY, Mar 12 (PIA)--More private hospitals in the city carried on the vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) with the delivered initial batch of Sinovac vaccines.

Following the turned over 158 Sinovac doses from the Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC), the Iligan Medical Center Hospital (IMCH) together with the Dr. Uy Hospital Incorporated (DUHI), and St. Mary's Maternity and Children's Hospital, Inc. (SMMCHI) pursued their COVID-19 jab giving first doses to a number of their medical frontliners.

“We are expected to consume all the Sinovac. Gi-apportion na nila. [They apportioned that.] The IMCH, we have 58 vaccines, Dr. Uy 50 and Mercy is 50. Hutdon na siya karong adlawa kay ugma na magsugod ang AstraZeneca [We will all consume that today because the AstraZeneca will already start tomorrow],” said Dr. Daniel Rigor, the IMCH Medical Director, upon the turnover of APMC’s vaccines.

He also shared that frontliners who will not be inoculated with Sinovac vaccines because of the shortage in the allocated supply will be immunized with the just turned-over AstraZeneca vaccines.

“Para sa Iligan Medical Hospital, naa tay 100+ nga wala pa nabakunahi unya ang sobra, kay ang gihatag sa ato nga partition kay 58 ra man, ang sobra nga dili mahimo karon ato nang ihigayon para sa AstraZeneca,” Rigor explained.

[For the Iligan Medical Hospital, we have 100+ who are not yet vaccinated, and the remaining, since the given partition to us is just only 58, the remaining who will not make it right now will be endorsed for the AstraZeneca.]

An IMCH frontliner willingly takes his first dose of Sinovac vaccine to get protected from the infectious COVID-19.

Meanwhile, he also called on to the rest of the unvaccinated health workers to signify their willingness to participate in the immunization program despite the news on existing adverse events following immunization (AEFI).

“Naa tay nakuha nga report sa side effects sa Sinovac, just like AstraZeneca, sa region pero all of them nagrecover naman pud in a matter of minutes. So, in other words, naay side effects usahay but not everybody. Naay side effects pero they recover immediately after the vaccination so nothing to worry,” stated Rigor.

[We got reports about the side effects of Sinovac, just like AstraZeneca, from the region but all of them recovered in a matter of minutes. So, in other words, there are side effects sometimes but not for everybody. There are side effects but they recover immediately after the vaccination so nothing to worry about.]

“I think it is even wiser to get the vaccination than to risk yourself sa COVID which is gadaghan na ang variant karon [its variants are increasing in number]. That is the advice now, get the vaccination,” he added. (CRG/ PIA-ICIC)
