PhilHealth-10 bats for digitalization, reforms in 2021

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, March 1 (PIA)--In consonance with Philippine Health Insurance Corporation's (PhilHealth) 26th anniversary on the theme, “Patuloy na nagmamalasakit at naglilingkod sa Pamilyang Filipino,” Philhealth-10 seeks to provide Filipinos in Northern Mindanao with proper health care coverage by pushing for digitalization and strengthening its trust among stakeholders with internal reforms.

“We give much importance to giving service to the people. So we are going out to inform our stakeholders of the benefits being accorded to them by Philhealth,” said Philhealth-10 Regional Vice-President Orlando Iñigo Jr. during "Talakyan sa PIA" program.

Using the mnemonic, “PURE QUA-L-IT-Y”, Iñigo shared that their regional offices are focusing on improving (P) Payment Mechanisms for their clients and accelerate their office payment services in less than 60 days as mandated by the law, have (U) uncompromising  stand against fraud, (R) reduce backlogs especially in claims and membership, (E) enhance business processes, using of (QUA) quadmedia in disseminating their programs, (L) localization of the National Health Insurance program, boosting (IT) information technology infrastructure in their business systems through digitalization, cyber security, and modernization, and lastly, focusing on (Y) “you”, the individual.

With the reforms pursued by the new president and Chief Executive Officer Dante Gierran, Philhealth gears up for its three-point action plan consisting of digital transformation, anti-fraud measures, good governance and financial stability.

In 2020, Philhealth-10 was able to cater to 17 hospitals in the region amounting to P708 million, with Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Medical Center, Polymedic Medical Plaza, Bukidnon Provincial Hospital, and JR Borja General Hospital topping the list of their payments made.

Despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and internal controversies, Iñigo reaffirmed their commitment to the realization of the Universal Health Care (UHC) program in addition to the improvement of their services and fraud reforms to provide quality health care services for all Filipinos and the generations to come.

“Ang PhilHealth ay palaging nandyan pag may problema kayo. Pagdating sa health, kami po ay kaagapay ninyo,” he said. (VPSB/PIA10)
