2,000 vacancies up for grabs on Labor Day online job expo

LEGAZPI City (PIA) -- Some 2,000 local job vacancies will be offered to Bicolanos during the three-day online job and business opportunities expo to be conducted starting on the eve of Labor Day.

Department of Labor and Employment Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita said the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) job fair that will start on April 30, Friday, provides job seekers an access to employment or entrepreneurial options in a virtual space in observance of Labor Day.  

“We are still inviting employers who may want to join in our job fair, so we can offer jobs as many as possible to all job seekers out there,” said Angara-Campita.

Campita added that the department continuously implements strategic recovery programs to address the slight increase of the unemployment rate in the region due to the pandemic as reported by the Labor Force Survey provided by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

“Now that our economy is gradually re-opening, we have to recover the employment that has been lost due to pandemic. It is through this online job fair that we can set up a ‘market place like’ for both employers looking for their future workers and job applicants seeking employment opportunities through an online system,” she added.

Moreover, Campita said that the number of vacancies to be offered is likely to increase since they are still waiting for other employers accomplish the documents for them to be able to join.

Aside from jobs, the expo will include a campaign on entrepreneurship featuring successful local entrepreneurs and products catalogs; business opportunities that will focus on the industry specific to the locality and/or local chambers; government support and assistance in starting a business registration, e-commerce and; SMEs support and assistance through business advisory and counseling.

The DOLE will also include a help desk on livelihood programs and provision of training and starter kits.
