335 PUJ drivers in Davao City undergo COVID-19 swab testing

DAVAO CITY, April 27 (PIA)- A total of 335 drivers came out for swab test at the Crocodile Park yesterday.

City Traffic and Transport Management Chief Dionisio Abude bared that they have been targeting at least 500 drivers to swab up to May 8.

He guaranteed ample preparation is done to ensure smooth operation of the drive thru-swab tests.

Abude said the drivers were issued advisory from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, CTTMO and the City Health Office for the swab tests.

”Drivers were given merienda, grocery packs, face masks and face shields and vitamins as they wait for their turn to be swabbed,” he said.

Abude said drivers must show driver’s license, and any government issued IDs.  He called on bus firms to ensure that their drivers and conductors must undergo swab test.  Abude said the schedule for the mandatory swab test may be extended to ensure that all public utility drivers have undergone swab tests.

The City is targeting to swab five hundred drivers per day from 8:00 am to 11:30 am until May 8.   Abude assured that the government will eventually know who among the drivers do not have swab test given the master list they have.

Nonito Llanos, director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board XI expressed support to the mandatory swab tests for all public utility drivers.

He said they are informing the public utility operators to coordinate with the CTTMO on the scheduling of the mandatory swab tests.

Llanos stressed that even bus companies that serve Davao City to other areas in Mindanao are obliged to join.  (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
