APAYAO, Apr. 3 (PIA) -- The provincial government advises the public stay calm and strictly adhere to the minimum health standards as COVID-19 cases continue to surge.
The Provincial Health Office reported 78 new COVID-19 confirmed cases on Thursday, April 1, the highest number of cases reported in a day in the province since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous highest single day COVID cases with 51 was recorded on March 4, 2021.
With 39 new confirmed cases reported in April 2, Apayao has a total of 629 COVID cases including four deaths of which two occurred last month.
Governor Eleanor Bulut-Begtang stressed that the prime defense against COVID-19 is taking care of one’s self in accordance with the minimum health protocols such as wearing of mask, washing of hands and social distancing.
The PHO also continuously reminds the public to follow the minimum health and safety protocols for their protection.
“Let us continue to be vigilant, we should strictly follow the minimum health standards against the COVID-19 inspite of the presence of the vaccines,” Provincial Health Officer Dr. Amy Liza Maruquin said during the recent Provincial Inter Agency Task Force meeting.
She explained that even with the going vaccination of health workers and other frontline workers in the province, strict adherence the minimum health standards is still the best defense against the COVID-19. (JDP/RMC- PIA CAR)
