Borongan City Mayor to constituents: Wait for your turn, everyone will be inoculated with COVID vaccine

BORONGAN CITY, April 28 (PIA) -- Borongan City Mayor Dayan Agda issued a second appeal to his constituents as regards the COVID-19 vaccine.

Whereas, before the mayor appealed that his people accept COVID-19 cases, this time, he is appealing that they wait for their turn for the inoculation.

In a presscon on Tuesday afternoon, Agda faced the local media where he talked of the COVID-19 situation in the city and his other projects.

As regards vaccination, it will be recalled that barely 40 percent of Boronganons then liked to be given vaccines.

This time, however, Agda learned that the few bouts of the COVID-19 vaccination have drawn crowds. Some of those walk-in clients return home disgruntled for not being served.

“Ngatanan kita hini mababakunahan, dire la dudrungan.” (All of us will get the vaccines but not necessarily at the same time) he explained.

Atty. Romeo Alexis Devora, chair of the Public Health and Safety Task Force added that the city has received an agreement supply of some 25 thousand doses of the vaccine, he too appealed to all to be patient as all Boronganon 18 years old and above shall get their equal share.

The Mayor also belied reports that some well-known people are given preferential treatment.

“I do not think so,” he commented, adding “My father was one of those who were not served immediately,” he said.

He then added that with the big chunk of Boronganon now willing to get the vaccine, the city will set up at least seven vaccination sites to ensure coverage for all willing.

“By year-end, I promise that all eligible for vaccination will be served.”

Agda expressed elation that in Borongan there seems to be very few getting infected with COVID-19. He attributed the COVID-19 fame to his holding of “Pulong-Pulong”  in the barangays where they include vaccine advocacy.

Devora also reported that at least some 1,706 Boronganons mostly frontliners/health workers and senior citizens have been vaccinated. These sinovac brand of vaccines were given by the Department of Health.
