DA-4A distributes P12.4M agri interventions in Lipa City

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, May 4 (PIA) --The Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A) distributed a total of P12,398,697 worth of various agricultural interventions to farmers’ associations and cooperatives, civil society organizations, and the local government of Lipa City on April 28, 2021 at Lipa Agricultural Research and Experiment Station, Brgy. Marauoy, Lipa City, Batangas.

Agri interventions that include urban mushroom production package, three community garden packages, greenhouse with hydroponics technology, mango production package, corn and cassava production packages, food supply chain financial assistance, and one unit of refrigerated truck were sourced out from the High Value Crops Development Program, Corn and Cassava Program, and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Program of the department. 

DA-4A OIC-Regional Executive Director Vilma M. Dimuculangan in her message, encouraged all farmers to organize into farmers’ association or cooperative to take full advantage of various programs and services being offered by the department.

“We want to ensure that every intervention given by the DA will be sustainable and beneficial to a greater number of farmers. Through our farmers’ association or cooperative, we can achieve this and can bring about economies of scale,” director Dimaculangan said.

Lipa City Administrator Dr. Percival Lojo representing Mayor Africa, OIC-Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Avelita M. Rosales, OIC-Field Operations Division Chief Redelliza A. Gruezo, Agricultural Programs Coordinating Officer for Batangas Fidel L.
