PAGBILAO, Quezon, May 18 (PIA)- The Department of Agriculture (DA)-4A CALABARZON recently distributed 33 heads of cattle worth P1,155,000 to farmers here as part of the Cattle Fattening Feedlot Project of the Department of Agriculture-4A Livestock Program.
DA-4A OIC Regional Executive Director Vilma M. Dimaculangan and Quezon Province First District Rep. and House Committe Chairman for Agriculture and Food Wilfrido Mark Enverga led the turn-over of the first batch of the cattle distribution.
According to DA-4A, the first batch of beneficiaries were farmers from Barangays Anato, Antipolo, Bigo, Binahaan, Ibabang Bagumbungan and Kanlurang Malicboy who were members of Quezon Agricultural Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (QAFMPC). As requirement, the farmer-beneficiaries underwent a training on cattle fattening last May 7.
Meanwhile, the 2nd batch of beneficiaries were the other 67 members of QAFMPC who attended the training on cattle fattening on May 14.
The beneficiaries will feed the cattle each worth P35,000, sell it after six months and earn from P70,000 to P80,000. Proceeds of the sale will be divided between farmer-beneficiaries, 80% and the cooperative, 20%. The income will be used to procure another batch of cows and other cattle fattening requirements.
"Ang training at iba pang mga kagamitang ipapamahagi ay para po kayo ay maging well-prepared sa pagpapalaki ng baka, sana po pagkatapos nito at pagbalik namin dito ay matataba na ang mga baka at inaasahan po namin na kayo ay magiging modelo sa pagpapataba ng baka sa buong CALABARZON", OIC -Regional Executive Director Dimaculangan said
Rice farmer Maricel Cabile, thanked Rep. Enverga and the DA-CALABARZON for the cattle distribution.
"Dagdag income po ito para sa aming pamilya dahil may aasahan kaming kikitain na pandagdag sa pagpupuhunan, nagpapasalamat po kami sa DA at kay Rep. Enverga dahil sa patuloy na pagtulong sa katulad naming magsasaka," Cabile said. (Ruel Orinday, PIA Quezon with report from DA-RFO IVA RAFIS)
