DA’s KADIWA on wheels community pantry serves Dagupan City’s PWDs

DAGUPAN CITY, May 7 (PIA) –  Some 200 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in this city was served by the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa ngayong Pandemya (KADIWA) on Wheels Community Pantry on Tuesday at the City Plaza here.

The PWD beneficiaries, who are former fishermen and farmers in the city, received kilos of rice, fish sauce, egg, garlic, eggplant, bittergourd, corn, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, bottle gourd, spinach and ham.

Marvin Quilates, officer-in-charge of the Pangasinan Research and Experiment Center (PREC) of DA Region 1, said the KADIWA on wheels community pantry aims to help the beneficiaries augment, even in small amounts, their food supply.

Quilantes said that Dagupan City is the second place in the province which was visited by the KADIWA on wheels after the city government's coordination with the DA.

Dagupan City Mayor Marc Brian Lim thanked the agency for extending help to the city’s PWDs.

Lim also assured his constituents that all the assistance they need from the government will be extended to all Dagupeños.

“Ang ginagawa po natin ngayon ay tumulong sa mga kababayan nating mahirap ang buhay sa iba’t ibang sektor ng siyudad – at ngayong umaga, PWD sector naman po ang ating tutulungan,” Lim said.

The goods given to the beneficiaries are donated to the KADIWA community pantry by the following groups and associations: Alcala Livestock and Cassava Growers Association Inc., Urdaneta City Organic Farming Rice, Corn and Vegetables Growers Association Inc., Nueva Segovia Consortium of Cooperative (NSCC), PREC Breeding Station, JB'S Aquafarm and Seafood Products Boneless Bangus Processing, MAJJRP Catering Service, Brickyard Grill House, JJEA Agri Ventures and JJM Food Products.
