Isabela City pushes development projects amidst pandemic

Isabela City, Basilan May 7 (PIA) – The local government unit of Isabela City de Basilan, celebrating its 20th Founding Anniversary recently, ensures development projects in the City will continue amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
 
A turn-over and ground breaking ceremony of various infrastructure projects were spearheaded by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, together with City Engineer Gian Carlo Luna, barangay representatives and other stakeholders.


 
These projects include the construction of Stalls at West Terminal (Phase 1) in Barangay Aguada (Php2.7M); Center for Mental Health Wellness at Barangay Tabuk (Php1.5M); Barangay Health Station at Barangay Tabiawan (Php2M); and Isabela City Park at Barangay Tabiawan (Php20M).
 
Infrastructure projects are part of the Nine-Point Agenda of this administration to ensure an economically progressive City amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
 
The initiative was also mention during the PIA Basilan Talakayan with Mayor Hataman on January 20 which she emphasized an addition to the 20 infrastructure projects implemented last year.
 
Recently, as part of Isabela City COVID19 response to cater COVID-19 patients, DPWH has renovated the Ligtas COVID19 Facility 2 in Barangay Sumagdang.
 
The building renovation project worth Php6.4million was funded through the efforts of Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman.
 
The facility was transformed from former Multi-purpose Social and Convention Hall into a DOH-standard Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility that can accommodate up to 53 COVID19 patients.
 
On April 25 as the city celebrated its 20th Cityhood Founding Anniversary and 2ndSakayan Festival, Mayor Hataman in her video message expressed hope that Isabela City will continue to sail its journey forward and remain as rising City amidst challenges.
 
“Though dampened by a pandemic, the Isabeleños spirit endures. Dumating ang pandemya at binago nito ang ating buhay, hindi tayo nagpatinag. Patuloy tayong lalaban, anumang unos na darating bilang isang nagkakaisang Isabeleños”, she stressed. (EDT/NDR/PIA9-Basilan with reports from CIO Isabela City)
