SAN CARLOS CITY, May 7 (PIA) – San Carlos City Mayor Julier Resuello announced in his Facebook live on Wednesday the warning to his residents that the city government will impose a lockdown if the health protocols set by the national government in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will not be strictly followed.
Resuello announced this due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the city with four new-recorded deaths within a week and recording the highest number of cases in the whole province.
“Muli po nating pinapaalalahanan ang ating mga kababayan to follow the protocols of the IATF and the national government most especially the local government. Ituloy pa rin po natin ang pagsusuot ng face mask at face shield dahil ito ang makakatulong sa atin para hindi po natin ma-transmit ang COVID-19 virus,” Resuello said.
He asked the barangay officials to monitor their constituents in their area and gave them within this week to comply.
“Napakahirap at nakakalungkot bilang local chief executive na nag-number one na naman tayo sa Pangasinan sa dami ng bilang ng nag-positive sa lungsod natin na hindi maiwasan dahil maraming matitigas ang ulo na dini-disregard ang mga protocols,” he said.
He added that if the people will continue to violate the protocols, he will declare a lockdown in the city.
Based on the monitoring of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), San Carlos City has the most number of active cases with 97 out of the 734 total active cases in the entire Pangasinan as of 6 p.m. on May 6.
Among the top five municipalities being monitored by the PHO with the highest number of active cases including San Carlos City are San Quintin (51), Urdaneta City (44), Calasiao (35), and Alaminos City (26).
Meanwhile, during the Laging Handa Network Briefing of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), San Miguel, Bohol Mayor Virgilio Mendez shared that the town has been very serious in the implementation of wearing face masks and social distancing.
He said their contact tracing teams have been very effective, especially since the contact tracers are local residents who know fully well who they should trace.
