DOLE XII, Tacurong ink deal to institutionalize Barangay PESOs

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, May 7 (PIA) --  All barangays in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat Province will soon operate their own public employment service offices. 

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XII,  the City Government of Tacurong and barangay LGUs signed a tripartite agreement for the full operationalization of Barangay Public Employment Service Office (PESO) on Tuesday. 

Said agreement empowers barangays to access better opportunities from DOLE programs and services,  including employment facilitation, livelihood, trainings, and technical assistance.

DOLE Regional Director Raymundo Agravante signed the MOA on behalf of DOLE XII while Mayor Angelo Montilla represented the Local Government Unit of Tacurong City. Fifteen punong barangays also signed the agreement. 

The 15 barangays represented in the MOA signing were: San Pablo, Rajah Muda, Baras, Lancheta, Upper Katungal, San Rafael, New Carmen, New Isabela, San Antonio, New Lagao, Tina, San Emmanuel, Poblacion, D. Ledesma, and EJC Montilla. 


The remaining five barangays are expected to pass resolutions for the establishment of their own PESOs by the end of June.  

"Let me congratulate LGU-Tacurong and the Barangay LGUs because barangay PESO institutionalization is an extraordinary accomplishment, effort and cooperation between your leaders. This leads to a wide array of opportunities to the constituents especially the informal sector workers who deeply need assistance from the government this time of COVID-19 pandemic," Director Agravante said in his message at the signing ceremony.
