DPWH starts P29M Turud-Banquero bridge  

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, May 28 (PIA) - The Department of Public works and Highways - Isabela Third District Engineering Office (DPWH-3DEO) has started the construction of the P29 million in Turud-Banquero in Reina Mercedes town.

DPWH - Isabela Third District Engineering Office head Engr. Adonis  Asis said the construction of the bridge which was destroyed by recent typhoons will help villagers in their daily economic activties and farmers in transporting their agriculture products to the market.

“The construction of Turud Banquero Bridge is a long-time dream of the residents of Turud Banquero, Reina Mercedes as it will greatly help ease their mode of transportation,” Asis said.

He said the bridge will ensure the residents to safer travel and avoid the risk in traversing the Cagayan river by boat, reducing travel time and convenience in going to the town's poblacion. 

Asis said that the project work includes construction of piers/posts which was funded under Construction of Various Infrastructures including Local Projects - Local Roads and Bridges - Local Bridges with a total contract amount of P29-million. 

He said the project which was started in February this year is expected to be completed by July 2021. (BME/MGE - PIA-2/Isabela)
