DSWD-NCR inks deal with 7th CRG, CRSAFP to boost 4Ps program toward food security

CALOOCAN CITY, May 7 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region today forged a partnership with the 7th Civil Relations Group, Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines (7th CRG,  CRSAFP) further improving the Pantawid  Pamilyang Pilipino (4Ps) Program to include urban agriculture for food security in Metro Manila.

The ceremonial signing, that aims to increase the level of well-being of 4Ps program members, through the “Malasakit sa Mag-aaral and Raise to 1 Million Gardens in NCR of the 7th CRG, CRSAFP, was held at Barangay Talon Kuatro, Las Pinas City. 

The deal, the DSWD-NCR said, will also enhance the capacities of Patawid Pamilya farmers through provision of  technical assistance on urban gardening and urban agriculture.

In addition, the partnership will fully realize the mutual responsibility and convergent effort of both agencies towards a just and humane society by respecting and promoting the welfare and fundamental human rights of every members of the 4Ps, it added. 

The ceremony was graced by the DSWD-NCR Regional Director Vicente Gregorio B. Tomas, Las Pinas City Mayor Imelda T. Aguilar, Lieutenant Colonel Celestre Frank L. Sayson, Barangay Talon Kuatro Chairperson Lawrence Philip Dl. Roco and the 4Ps program members.

In support to the effort, the Gulayan sa Barangay – Community Organizing Project, that is one of the initiatives of the DSWD-NCR Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, has organized and empowered the 4Ps program members to collectively act in identifying gaps and solutions from their shared ideas and experiences in community level in support to the mandate of Republic Act  11310 known as “An Act Institutionalizing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
