New vaccine arrival in Davao Region for A1, A2

DAVAO CITY, May 12 (PIA) – A new batch of vaccines arrived at the Davao International Airport Monday (May 10) afternoon, all allocated for the remaining healthcare workers and senior citizens in Davao Region.

Of the 132,000 doses of AstraZenica vaccines which recently arrived, 20,000 doses are allocated to be provided as second dose of healthcare workers who already got their first dose; while 56,000 doses is for the first dose for the A2 or the senior citizens and the same number of doses for the second vaccination of the same priority group.

The region also received on the same delivery schedule 29,250 doses of vaccines from Pfizer and 80 doses from Sinovac.

The DOH XI reported that the region already received and distributed 148,000 vaccines. As of May 9, 2021, about 76 percent of the 84,000 allocation for the first dose were consumed while 31 percent of the 64,000 allocation for the second dose were consumed.

The consumption percentage for the 84,692 masterlisted A1 eligible population has reached almost 75 percent of those vaccinated with the first dose while roughly 46 percent has been covered with the second dose.

Regional director of DOH XI Dr. Annabelle Yumang said that part of the new batch of vaccine arrivals is intended to cover the remaining healthcare workers who have yet to get vaccinated.

Vaccination for A2 priority group or senior citizens has also started in Davao City while the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) started the vaccination of senior citizens in the government sector.

The hospital chief of SPMC Dr. Ricardo Audan  announced that a total of 180 seniors from the government offices in Davao City who are included in the masterlist from the Department of Information Communication Technology (DICT) were catered in the day-long vaccination schedule for the specific priority group.
