BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, May 7 (PIA) - The Provincial Government here has slated Fridays of May as disinfection day against COVID-19.
The disinfection days which will be carried out regularly from 2-5 PM was ordered by Governor Carlos Padilla which will cover the Provincial Capitol grounds, local and national government offices.
"Office works during this period are hereby suspended to pave way for an efficient and effective disinfection . Each agency is advised to designate their representative to safe keep office supplies from possible damage during the process," Padilla said in his Advisory No. 6 dated May 6.
The disinfection activities will be carried out by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
Dr. Edwin Galapon, provincial health officer said the regular disinfection has been made to prevent transmission of COVID-19 infection within government offices of the provincial capitol.
Last month, government work within the provincial capitol has been temporarily suspended for two weeks following the COVID-19 infection of several national and provincial government officials, workers and inmates of the Provincial Jail.
"This is one way of preventing another infection within the provincial government offices including national government agencies. Our COVID-19 cases are now decreasing and we hope to keep it that way." Galapon said.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
