PGC launches 2021 Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano Awards

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, May 1 (PIA) - - The Provincial Government of Cagayan is launching the 4th Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano Awards this year as a platform for inspiration among Cagayanos to rise above challenges amidst the pandemic.

The Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano is a prestigious award for Cagayano achievers, which aims to recognize outstanding, exemplary and distinguished Cagayanos who have made a name not only in the province, but also in the national and international arena; contributing in the progress and development of communities and in nation-building.

The awards started in 2017 as part of the founding anniversary of civil government of the province or the Aggao Nac Cagayan celebrations.

Governor Manuel N. Mamba said that “Dangal” awards embody the greatness of a Cagayano, whose perseverance, dedication, service and noble values are his pride to the whole nation and to the whole world.

“We launched the Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano Award in 2017 because I felt that we need to inspire our people, especially the younger generation, that there is so much to be proud of about our people and our province. I believe we need to have modern day heroes who we can look up to because of their achievements and great values,” he also said.

Atty. Mabel Villarica-Mamba, the first lady of the province is the proponent of the awards. She said, “a Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano awardee is someone who has performed his responsibilities or has served his fellowmen over and beyond the call of duty. He or she is someone whom we, most especially the youth, can look up to.”

Last year, due to the pandemic, PGC launched a simple Aggao Nac Cagayan celebration. With the strict protocols in place, the founding anniversary was celebrated virtually. The search for Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano was suspended for the meantime.

Villarica-Mamba emphasized.

She also said that the Cagayanos are everywhere. We can be found in all corners of the globe. “We know how it is the have less and we know how it is to be in the middle of a storm, and still survive and rise above it all.”

Meanwhile the Governor said, “what we want people to remember are the excellence, resilience and diligence of our race and the beauty and vibrancy of our province.
