Tuguegarao City – The DOLE Regional Office No. 2 took part in the national commemoration of this year’s Labor Day celebration spearheaded by Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III by conducting a day-long set of activities looped virtually with events conducted in other regions and the central office earlier today.
Highlights of today’s activities include the conduct of a virtual job fair in collaboration with JobStreet, pooling together private establishments from the agriculture, health, finance and food industries and job seekers across the region for employment opportunities.
The day’s morning activities also included the ceremonial awarding of Starter Kits and Nego Karts to 25 DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) beneficiaries from Tuguegarao City.
A total amount of P750,000.00 was allotted for the awarding which shall support livelihood opportunities of the beneficiaries along carpentry, electrical and food service.
Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales meanwhile urged the beneficiaries to grow the businesses that they were awarded with and also committed to provide additional DOLE assistance if their businesses flourish.
A COVID-19 vaccination of 10 workers from Tuguegarao City and another 10 in Ilagan City, Isabela was also conducted in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) – Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development.
A payout for COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) 2 for 1,976 tourism sector workers and more than 3,200 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program was also conducted in Ilagan City, Isabela in tandem with the morning activities in Tuguegarao City.
TUPAD payouts in the provinces of Cagayan, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya catering to 3,762 beneficiaries commenced in late April and shall be completed by mid-May as part of activities to commemorate Labor Day while 719 worker-beneficiaries from the program were deployed today to do community work in Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.
The afternoon line up of activities included an online Orientation on the DOLE and DTI Supplemental Guidelines on Workplace Prevention and Control of COVID-19, to support the fight to eradicate the virus from workplaces in the region.
A virtual One-Stop-Shop for querries and concerns from online participants was conducted thereafter, with partners from the OSHC, OWWA, SSS, NLRC, ECC, DTI, TESDA, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG taking turns to give clarifications and assistance to concerns coming from participants.
The virtual job fair shall meanwhile extend to May 2 and 3 to cater to additional job seekers looking for employment opportunities. ###
