PLARIDEL, Misamis Occidental, May 8 (PIA)—“Isa po sa aming tinutukan ngayon is to promote organic agriculture as well as mag-develop po kami ng bagong breed, mga new generations po ng farmers dahil ikinatatakot namin na baka wala na pong gusto maging farmer.”
(One of our focus now is to promote organic agriculture as well as we will develop new breeds, new generations of farmers because we are afraid that no one will want to be a farmer anymore)
Through the "Kabataan alang sa agrikultura sa ka barangayan," Plaridel SK Federation President Rojim Banguis targets to empower their youth by honing their potentials in organic agriculture and ecotourism since Plaridel is part of the league of organic agriculture municipalities of the Philippines.
During the CORDS-X Podcast with Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, May 8, Baguis cited three objectives of the program that include developing more farmers, expediting more income and promoting organic agriculture to attain food security.
Plaridel Federation also partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for the conduct of the local development data where the youth are profiled for them to be equipped with appropriate training skills so they can earn a living.
“Ito po ang nakikita nating problema na kailangan po nating pagtuunan ng pansin na makapagbigay po ng skills training para sa kabataan,’’ he said.
(This is the problem we see that we need to focus on to be able to provide skills training for the youth)
On the ecotourism efforts of the town, Baguis said they are educating the youth on the things to do and observe in order to contribute to sustainable tourism and to prevent pollution. This is one of the campaigns of SK Plaridel to better sustain or maintain the cleanliness of their local tourist destination such as the ‘Bawbawon Island.’
Fostering peace, order
The SK Federation of Plaridel supports the ‘Ang kabataan Kontra Droga ug Terorismo” of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Pinaigting po namin ang aming kampanya, nakipag-coordinate po kami sa PNP at AFP [Armed Forces of para makumbinsi po namin ang kabataan na huwag sumapi sa mga kabilang ideolohiya kasi wala naman pong nagawa ‘yung mga kaliwa na sirain ang gobyerno, marami na po ang buhay at pangarap ang nasira at marami na ang pamilya ang nawasak dahil sa kanilang mga maling ideolohiya,” he added.
(We intensified our campaign, we coordinated with the PNP and AFP to convince the youth not to join other ideologies because the left has done nothing to destroy the government, there are many lives and dreams that have been destroyed. There are families that have been destroyed because of their false ideologies)
With the strong partnership and collaboration with the PNP and AFP through the unity of the entire Filipino people, the SK President believed that the country can overcome the hurdles that hinder Filipinos in attaining peaceful life. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
