ZamPen declared under MECQ on June 1-15

DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte, June 1 (PIA) – All provinces and cities of Zamboanga Peninsula region, excluding Isabela City of Basilan province were declared under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) starting June 1 until 15.

President Rodrigo Duterte announced the new community quarantine classifications late last night during his weekly “Talk to the People” on COVID-19.

Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga City are among the areas placed under MECQ. This also includes the component cities within the provinces like Dipolog, Dapitan and Pagadian.

The areas identified were seen to have an upward trend in COVID-19 cases, hence, the imposition of MECQ.

President Duterte also announced that General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with restrictions shall remain in several areas including the National Capital Region (NCR) plus composed of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal until June 30, 2021 as COVID-19 cases continue to decline.

As the government continues to reopen the economy, the President reminds local government units (LGUs), especially the barangays, to ensure that minimum public health standards are always observed and that the law is enforced.  He gives a stern warning that officials who will fail in executing these will be made accountable.

Furthermore, as more supplies of the COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in the coming months, the Chief Executive reiterates that the available vaccines are given free to the Filipino public as reports of people selling vaccination slots have emerged. (NBE/EDT/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
