Over 373K in Bacolod receive Covid-19 jabs

BACOLOD CITY – Some 87.99 percent of the target population for vaccination in this city have already received coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine as of November 8, data released by the Emergency Operations Center Task Force (EOC-TF) on Wednesday showed.

These include 373,969 recipients out of the 424,992 individuals eligible for vaccination.

Of the number, 42.06 percent or 178,767 individuals are already fully-vaccinated while 45.93 percent or 195,202 individuals have been administered the first dose.

EOC-TF executive director Em Ang said ramped-up vaccination campaigns have led to the decrease in local Covid-19 infections.

“We have intensified vaccination efforts among pediatric population and conduct ongoing house-to-house campaign and vaccination drive in puroks (zones) and remotest areas, on top of the aggressive contact-tracing and testing policy,” she added.

On November 9, Bacolod has logged only 14 new cases, all local transmission. It has a total of 23,346 cases, including 911 active cases; 21,840 recoveries; and 595 deaths.

Meanwhile, data of the EOC-TF and Covid-19 Vaccination Council showed that the city government has used various vaccine brands from March 5 to November 8.

A total of 170,701 shots of Sinovac’s CoronaVac have been administered, including 91,541 for first dose and 79,160 for second dose.

Others include AstraZeneca, 114,778 jabs – 71,871 (first dose) and 42,907 (second dose); Pfizer, 29,979 – 19,191 (first dose) and 10,788 (second dose); Moderna, 24,162 –12,599 (first dose) and 11,563 (second dose); and Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) single-dose Janssen, 34,349 doses.

On Wednesday, Bacolod launched the rollout of Gamaleya’s Sputnik V shots at Ayala Malls Capitol Central vaccination site, after recently receiving 5,000 ampoules.

Across the city, Bacolod has set up 27 Resbakuna centers and seven mega vaccination sites in all the city’s major shopping malls and has also deployed five Vax-i mobile vaccination buses. (PNA)
