TRECE MARTRES CITY, Cavite June 1 (PIA) -- Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla advised all Caviteños returning to work today to take all precautionary measures for their protection against the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 and expect heavy traffic congestion along the major thoroughfares going out to NCR.
He strongly reminded the people that almost 50 percent of COVID-19 confirmed cases recorded in the province came from Metro Manila and they should always be cautious of potential local transmissions while at work thus, physical distancing must be observed at all times.
New Normal dictates the mandatory wearing of face masks, constant disinfection with 70 percent alcohol solutions or alcogels if regular handwashing could not be done.
He also mentioned taking a bath as soon as arriving from work before mingling with other members of the family particularly with children and senior citizens who are highly vulnerable to infection.
On the other hand, transportation will surely be a mess today with lots of confusion and complaints because the system is not foolproof yet. Procedures will be formulated based on observations and assessments on the situation along the major roads and streets open to traffic today.
Earlier today, the governor reiterated that quarantine pass system is still in effect in the province which would still regulate and monitor the movement of the residents.
Despite complaints and a thousand violators of the protocol arrested, the system had been effective in containing the number of COVID-19 cases in the province.
Similarly, the governor reported on the status of the high capacity laboratories of the De La Salle Medical-Health Sciences Institute with hopes of completion of all three phases by Friday, June 5, 2020.
He said, "Expect the number of cases in Cavite which is now at 353 will rise up to 1,000 after a few days. This will reflect the real status of COVID-19 in the province."
The governor expressed his concern saying that, "It is better to contain the spread of the virus in our communities than open our economy with hundreds of asymptomatic cases thriving among the crowds." (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite with report from Gov. Remulla FB page)
