Maddela LGU waives market rental fees for businesses closed during ECQ

MADDELA, Quirino, May 26 (PIA)—In response to RA 11469 otherwise known as “Bayanihan to Heal As One Act,” the Sangguniang Bayan here enacted an ordinance to help the business that were closed during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) cope with their losses due to the effects of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Through Municipal Ordinance no. 14 which was enacted last May 11, 2020, the local government approved and authorized the waiving of rental fees of market stall holders whose businesses were mandatorily closed during the ECQ.

Also, the payment of business tax without interest, penalties and surcharges that fall during the ECQ had been extended.

Furthermore, the lifting of payment of parking fees for transport group that  were allowed to operate in a limited capacity during the General Community Quarantine (GCQ), was authorized and approved.

The said ordinance covers all business establishments that went into involuntary closure operation during the ECQ in the entire Luzon, and for transport group which resume its operation in a limited capacity during the GCQ.

“These measures aim to allow the affected establishments to recover from the effects of the ECQ to their supposed robust operation and provide temporary economic relief to businesses, among others,” the ordinance stated. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
