Health screening at DC borders, a success

DAVAO CITY, June 3 (PIA) - The health screening conducted by the authorities at the three borders in Sirawan, Toril; Lumondao, Marilog District; and Lasang  yielded encouraging results despite finding a few COVID-19 probable persons.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio told the Davao City Disaster Radio, that no COVID-19 positive case was detected from Northern Mindanao in the health screening conducted at the checkpoint in Barangay Lumondao, Marilog District, from May 6 until June 2, 2020 with a total of 1,097 people going to Davao City.

She said that at the Sirawan checkpoint, 216 persons underwent health screening from May 6 to June 2 and only one failed in the rapid diagnostic test.

“The person was immediately referred to the Southern Philiippines Medical Center but there was no update on his situation,” Duterte-Carpio said.

She said that a total of 1,363 persons underwent health screening at the Lasang checkpoint from May 6 to June 2, where two persons failed the tests.

Duterte-Carpio said one person was immediately referred to the SPMC while the other was fetched by the local government unit where he came from and processed the person themselves, being a resident of the LGU.

She stressed that health screening is a must in coming to the city, especially for ordinary people.

Duterte-Carpio also said that nine of the 62 persons were found to be COVID-19 positive in Agdao Public Market.

“Monitoring continues in the market and other areas where the infection started like Barangay Leon Garcia and its nearby areas,” she said. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
