DepEd XI allots almost P500-M for printing of modules

DAVAO CITY, Aug. 13 (PIA) – The Department of Education XI announced that the department has allocated P499,011,000 for the reproduction of learning modules.

DepEd XI spokesperson Jenielito Atillo said in yesterday’s One Davao Virtual Presser that the government made sure to re-align budget and include the printing of modules given that Face to Face learning modality is not yet allowed.

“We want to tell everyone that we have the money for this and they need not worry on this aspect. However, we recognize the effort of our teachers who on their own volition looked for other sources for coupon bond and  ink and did not wait for the resources coming from the government”.

The DepEd XI, with 11 schools division offices, has budgeted all public schools covered in Davao Region for the module reproduction.

Davao City will get P110,624,608; Davao de Oro with P72,309,870; Davao del Norte with 51,712,902; Davao del Sur with P44,681,046; Davao Occidental with P32,506,826; Davao Oriental with P426,362,232; Digos City with P26,781,853; Island Garden City of Samal with P23,571,125; Mati City with P26,012,237; Panabo City with P29,554,376; and Tagum City with P34,893,925.

Even with this available budget which will be downloaded to all schools division offices, the DepEd XI also recognized the initiative of some teachers who did their own donation drive as their way of doing something for their students.

“ These teachers do have a heart for their students and they make us proud for doing that.”

Aside from the ensuring budget availability for the learning resources, the DepEd XI also initiated a regional training and orientation for parents on managing learning of the children in the new normal.

The 3-day training which started today is simultaneously shown through Facebook Live and Youtube channels of the Curriculum amd Learning Management Division and the Regional Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU).

Parents will get a grasp on the process and application of distance learning modalities; Big Six Reading on Literacy Instruction; Psychosocial and Mental Wellness; and the various teaching approaches that support inclusive education.

About 200,000 participants who are parents of the learners enrolled from Kindergarten to Grade 12 from the 11 schools division offices are expected to participate. (PIA XI/Frances Mae Macapagat)
