Rising number of applicants to help man reg'l quarantine facilities

DAVAO CITY, August 14 (PIA) – The Department of Health Davao Center for Health Development (DOH DCHD) reports that the number of health professionals applying for needed vacant positions to manage and operate Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMFs) throughout Region 11 is rising.

This development is because the DOH DCHD has recently documented a total of 535 out of the 720 or 74.3% of the total allotment for the vacant positions under the emergency hiring of personnel conducted by the DOH. The said personnel will manage and run the 862 TTMFs which have a total bed capacity of 7,470 beds spread throughout all the provinces in Region 11.

DOH DCHD Assistant Regional Director Dr. Lenny Joy Rivera discussed the current status of emergency hiring of personnel in light of DOH Secretary Francisco Duque’s statement on the high rate of emergency hiring in Region 11 during the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases meeting.

“As mentioned by Sec [Duque] that if we will be compared to the hiring rate nationwide, we have hired a lot when it comes to our allotment [of personnel],”Rivera said.

Rivera also mentioned that despite the current hiring rate that the DOH is experiencing in Region 11, they are still aiming to complete the full allocation of 720 personnel to effectively manage and run the TTMFs in the region.

“There is still 26% remaining out of the total allocation [of personnel] … but still, 26% is a considerable number and we still need to hire more personnel to run our different TTMFs,” Rivera said. (PIA XI/KPLCaro)
