Romblon State U launches project to fill 'GaP' in time of pandemic

ODIONGAN, Romblon, Aug. 23 (PIA) -- A malasakit drive dubbed as  as ‘Gugma ag Pagtatap’ (GaP), which translates to ‘love and care’, will be launched on August 24 during the flag raising ceremony.

The drive aims to provide the members of the RSU community with accurate information and timely support in this pandemic.

Among the activities to be launched are a webinar on COVID-19 awarenes and guidance on community transmission management from a national DOH official, an intentional remote counseling program for all RSU students and employees and a webinar on mental health and suicide prevention and others.

"The pandemic has ushered us to a new norm of uncertainties. The University must take a lead in providing accurate information in adjusting to this new normal. When we are equipped with the right knowledge and information, there is no need for unnecessary fear, panic and paranoia," said Dr. Merian Mani, the newly installed University President.

She continued, "Also, our guidance counselors and health workers themselves will reach out to our students and employees to check on their state of mental and physical health."

The project is one of the gaps identified during the virtual president-led environmental scanning conducted immediately upon her assumption to office.

GaP is a joint project of the RSU Health Unit, Guidance and Counseling Services Office, Gender and Development Office and Human Resource Development Office. (PJF/PIA-Mimaropa)
