SK officials info activities empower residents vs. COVID-19

ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ, Capiz, Aug. 26 (PIA) – A series of public information dissemination activities are being conducted by the officials of Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Dumolog in Roxas City to empower their residents against the threats of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“We conduct 'recoreda' or a public address system attached to a roving barangay patrol to inform our constituents on the latest advisories, directives and existing laws aimed at preventing the spread of the virus,” said SK chairperson Arvin Aguilar in an interview with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar over Laging Handa Network Briefing, Aug. 26.

The youth officials are also conducting a house-to-house information campaign and distribution of information materials in the barangay.

The information drive is being complimented by the public disinfection campaign dubbed “Pagpaninlo” which teaches the youth sector about cleaning and disinfecting public places.

Aguilar, now a teacher, also called on his age group to actively participate and volunteer in worthwhile activities during this trying times to contribute for the good of the community rather than be a problem of the society.

The SK of Dumolog has also conducted supplemental feeding activities, fabricated environment-friendly face shields, distributed hygiene and disinfectant kits and offered a free ride to its constituents especially during the Enhanced Community Quarantine status implementation in the city last March 25 to April 30.

These initiatives have made Aguilar-led SK as a national finalist to the Search for Outstanding SK Response on COVID-19 by the National Youth Commission and Ang Probinsyano Partylist. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
