Tanglag farmers receive agri interventions from DA-CAR

LUBUAGAN, Kalinga, Aug.  26 (PIA) - - Members of a farmers’ organization in an identified insurgency-influenced barangay this municipality is a recipient of government’s development intervention  through  the Department of Agriculture.

 Tanglag Community Organization for Unity and Development (TaCOUD) in Barangay Tanglag here recently received from DA-Cordillera Administrative Region some 2,340 rambutan seedlings, 936 heads Muscovy ducks, 78 cavans feeds, 78 knapsack sprayers, and 78 sets of farm tools to members.

The intervention  under  the Integrated Root Crops, Vegetable, Fruit Trees, and Poultry Production Project  worth a total of Php 4,648,860.00  is funded by the DA-Special Area for Agriculture Development (SAAD) Program of FY 2020. This is part of efforts  to provide  income  generating intervention  this  period of COVID-19 pandemic  to ensure food security.

Each of the 78 members of TaCOUD received 30 rambutan seedlings, one unit knapsack sprayer, and a set of farm tools comprising of grab hoe with handle, chisel and point crowbar, pruning shears, rake, and shovel.

Thirty nine members also each received 24 heads of Muscovy ducks supplemented by two sacks of feeds. The other 39 members of the organization are yet to receive their free-range chicken for their poultry production.
 
TaCOUD also received last August 19 eight brush cutter units.
 
Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus promised to the community to improve the road connecting Tanglag to the rest of the municipality especially the farm to market road to hasten the growth of the SAAD livelihood project.  
 
Lubuagan Municipal Agriculturist Charlie Osdeg, Tanglag Barangay Captain Edwin Campilis, TaCOUD President Modesto Tongdo and members, Father Ginero Supremido II, Pastor Rany Abon, Office of the Municipal Agricultural Services and SAAD staff were present during the distribution. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
