Better compliance to quarantine protocols seen among CV residents

CEBU CITY, Sept. 4 (PIA) -- Five months after the start of the community quarantine, residents in Central Visayas are now more compliant to the minimum health protocols enforced by the government to stop the spread of COVID-19.

During the Straight from the Source Interview with Col. Jerry Borja, Commander of the Joint Task Group Cebu-Bohol-Siquijor of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), noted that continued efforts are being done to encourage the public to cooperate with the government’s response measures.

One of the programs being undertaken is the daily recoreda where military personnel go around the barangays reminding the communities about the safety protocols that should be practiced.

Dako kaayo ang improvement nga nakita nato...permi mi ga-remind sa mga tawo. Amo pud gi-encourage ang mga local government units labi na ang mga barangays nga mag-recoreda (I have seen a big improvement… we constantly remind the people. We also encourage local government units especially the barangays to also do their own recoreda),” said Borja.

Admittedly, Borja says there are still people who do not follow the guidelines but the recoreda has greatly helped in enjoining the public to be more compliant.

Meanwhile, the aggressive contact tracing being done in Cebu City has greatly contributed to the improvement of the COVID-19 situation in the city.

Currently, Central Visayas is placed under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

With this, Borja encourages the public to continue adhering with the health and safety policies being implemented such as physical distancing and wearing of face masks. (poc/PIA7)
