DOLE Albay launches online job fair with over 3K vacancies

LEGAZPI CITY, Sept 16 (PIA) -- More than 3,000 local job vacancies are offered at the “2020 DOLE Albay Online Job Fair” conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol through its Albay Provincial Field Office.

DOLE Bicol Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales said this activity will help engage job seekers and employers, accelerate applicants and job matching through virtual job fair. It will also promote convenient access to employment opportunities for job seekers particularly in Albay.

“It will also provide an avenue for employers to advertise and facilitate filling-up vacancies,” he added.

Gonzales also assures fulfillment of its mandated functions and timely delivery of services amid the COVID-19 pandemic while protecting the safety and health of government workers and clients.

Albay Labor Market

DOLE Albay Provincial Director Leah Dy said that with the increasing unemployment rate and business establishment closure, the pressing issue on job losses gave birth to virtual job fair.

“We also grab the opportunities being offered by establishments with job opportunities to our job seekers,” she stressed.

As reported in the Labor Market Update of the DOLE Albay, the province has a total of 2,226 job seekers who registered thru PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) in 2019, while 586 applicants were recorded this year.

Moreover, DOLE Albay has issued Certificate of Involuntary Separation to 261 displaced Albayano employees as requirement for them to avail the monetary benefits from the Social Security System (SSS) unemployment program during the first semester. Majority of them were retrenched from their companies due to closure of operation.

“Though a few in the meantime, but we still have about 3,000 vacancies that may be availed of by our job seekers. This is a continuing activity, and we seek the support of establishments that have vacancies to join us and work together to provide our people opportunities as we try to overcome the crisis we are experiencing now,” Dy said.

Among the job vacancies are online english teacher, senior Wordpress developer, SEO/Content writer, internet researcher (Full-time/Office-based), internet researcher (Freelance/Home-based), farm supervisor, Eggroom man, welder, auto-mechanic, HR assistant, production operator, company nurse, IT, technician, driver and many more.
