CALOOCAN CITY, Sept. 2 (PIA) -- Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco today confirmed a reduction of nearly half the total number of COVID-19 cases in the city.
Mayor Toby cited a report submitted by a data analytics team showing a 47 percent reduction of COVID-19 cases. The team headed by Edson Guido said 790 coronavirus cases were recorded from Aug. 15 to 28, compared to the 1,492 cases tallied from Aug. 1 to 14.
The mayor attributed the reduction of cases to the two-week lockdown in the city that limited the movement of residents while massive contact tracing and swab tests were made.
However, Tiangco reminded Navotas residents not to be complacent and follow the minimum health standards set by the authorities to stem COVID-19 local transmission.
The local chief executive also vowed to do more as COVID-19 remains a threat in the city.
Tiangco, likewise, thanked the city’s frontline workers for their untiring help in the battle against COVID-19. (PIA NCR)
