DAET, Camarines Norte, (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency-Provincial Information Center in partnership with the Camarines Norte Communicators Network (CamNorte ComNet) has conducted recently the 1st Online Information Caravan in Bicol at the town of Paracale.
Said caravan was participated by government agencies’ directors, public information officers (PIOs), municipal officials and barangay officials particularly punong barangays and councilors from the 27 barangays of Paracale.
This was the 6th Information Caravan, One Stop Shop conducted by the group; others were held in Vinzons, Capalonga, Mercedes, Basud and also in Paracale during the past two years.
It aimed to propagate reliable information as far as government programs, projects and services and its development at the grassroots level.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the caravan utilized combined strategies with limited number of face-to-face participants, while others joined through online platform.
In a message, Paracale Vice Mayor Bernadette Azutilla said that with this information caravan, we continue to communicate, adding that the main purpose of the activity is to inform barangay officials about government programs and projects. She is likewise optimistic that the learnings gained by barangay officials will be useful in governing their constituents.
CamNorte ComNet president Rommel Pajarin, on the other hand, reaffirmed that the purpose of the activity is to bring information about government programs and services at the locality.
“Listening about programs and projects of the government is very important. This Information Caravan, One Stop Shop is a big opportunity for heads of barangays like us, saying further that the COVID-19 pandemic should not hinder any access to information”, Dancalan Punong Barangay Ramil Jimenez said.
Jimenez thanked the ComNet because they were informed and have gained knowledge about the programs, services and kind assistance that the government extend to communities.
At the venue, provincial directors Engr. Arturo Corbe of DOLE and Engr. Eduardo Bonagua of TESDA along with the Provincial Information Officers (PIOs) of PNP-CNPPO, NIA, CDA, CSC, COMELEC and DWCN-FM Radyo Pilipinas discussed their programs and services at the venue.
While programs and projects of PIA, Department of Information and Communication technology (DICT), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), PNP-CNPPO, DepEd, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Provincial Government of Camarines Norte (PGCN) were presented through video presentations and infomercials. DOH-BIDA Solusyon were also discussed online including the programs and services of the National Food Authority (NFA).
Along with this, a Barangay Information Network was organized in the said town as proposed by ComNet Adviser and Information Center Manager (ICM) Rose Manlangit of PIA Camarines Norte.
The Barangay Information Network will serve as venue for information sharing of government programs through the ComNet and queries of barangay officials will be addressed immediately through a group chat as an initial activity of the group.
