PASIG CITY, Oct. 15 (PIA) – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) revitalizes its medical responses through the conduct of basic life support training for its health personnel, in cooperation with the Philippine Heart Association.
NCRPO chief Police Major General Debold M. Sinas led the two-day training that aims to provide health personnel in the police force the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies and provide a level of pre-hospital life support care for those with life threatening conditions until they can be transferred to a hospital to receive full medical care.
“Police officers as first-responders should not only be knowledgeable about policies, procedures, and measures but also with safety considerations governing the commitment to ensure safety of the Filipino people,” said Sinas in a release.
He added that the training is one of NCRPO’s efforts to further public service. “Now more than ever, we need responsive and knowledgeable nurse-cops to aid in this health crisis that we are experiencing.”
Sinas also emphasized that NCRPO has been integrating the importance of health wellness through the Corona Virus Awareness Response and Empowerment (C.A.R.E) infodemic drive held all over Metro Manila.
A total of 50 nurses participated in the first day of CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS) Training conducted by a team of 10 cardiologists and emergency technicians from the PHA, while four medical doctors, one dentist and 52 nurses participated during the second day of the seminar recently held at Camp Karingal in Quezon City.
