DepEd to parents: Don't push your children too hard

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct. 16 (PIA) - - Officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) region 2 has appealed to parents and guardians of public school learners to be patient in guiding their children in studying and answering their learning modules.

Regional Director Estela L. Carino said she received feedbacks that there are parents who are pushing too hard their children in answering the modules to the extent that they already physically and emotionally hurting their children.

"Please don't push your children too hard. Let us please be patient. Give your children enough time to study their lessons and give them also time to rest once in a while," Carino said.

She also stated that though there are schedules set for the distribution and collection of modules, additional time should be given to the children to finish their tasks if they cannot meet the deadline.

The director likewise reiterated to the school teachers to be considerate to their students.

She said no one should be denied just because of the late submission of the module as she believes that everyone is still on the adjustment period of the new normal situation.

Cariño further said she issued a memorandum to all school's divisions to distribute modules on a monthly basis for the safety of both the teachers and the students as well as the community on the threat of the Corona Virus Disease (2019).

"We also think of their safety not only on spread of the virus but also their routine in distributing the modules because there are so many teachers who climb mountains and cross rivers just to deliver modules," Cariño said.

On the other hand, Carino said region 2's enrollment rate is very satisfactory as it reached almost a hundred percent as compared to last year's enrollment rate. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
