PASIG CITY, Oct. 29 (PIA) – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-National Capital Region (TESDA-NCR) continues to provide technical-vocational educational training (TVET) for both the formal sector and informal community-based sector.
During the Dagyaw Open Government Virtual Town Hall meeting Wednesday, TESDA-NCR Regional Director Florencio F. Sunico, Jr. said that TESDA-NCR is making their trainings inclusive and flexible since face-to-face training is still prohibited due to the health emergency brought about by COVID-19.
Sunico cited that the ‘TESDA Way,’ which is is from enrollment to employment - responding to the mandate of the agency which is to provide training (vocational, education and training) assessment, and certification leading to employment.
At the onset of COVID-19, Sunico cited TESDA’s response, which is included in ‘TESDA’s Oplan Abot Lahat:’ Training for Works Scholarship Program (TWSP); Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA); Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA); Special Training/Assessment Program for OFWs; Training/Assessment Program for Displaced Workers; Special Training for Employment Program (STEP); and Provisional Training Teams (PTT).
TESDA’s priority target beneficiaries are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs); displaced workers due to COVID-19; Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) beneficiaries; Workers and Trainers in need of Skills Upgrading; New Entrants and Current Enrollees of Diploma Programs; Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET); TVET Trainers; and EO 70 and EO 79 Target Clients.
TESDA-NCR has six (6) districts, with 732 Technical Vocational Institutions (31 public, 701 private), 312 Assessment Centers, and with 2,276 courses/qualifications being offered.
RD Sunico called on trainees who wish to avail of TESDA’s training program, as he also encouraged participants to enroll in courses which are currently in-demand and available online.
