CALOOCAN CITY, Nov. 29 (PIA) --Recognizing the need to augment healthcare infrastructure in the National Capital Region, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 96-bed capacity quarantine/isolation healthcare facility in Quezon City University in just 18 days.

“These mobile health facilities in Quezon City University were constructed to enable the immediate isolation of mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 cases and mitigate its spread to nearby areas”, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, in a statement said.

Adopting the design standard prepared by the DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Health Facility, the Quezon City 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) has converted 12 units of 40-foot container vans into 48 air-conditioned rooms with double beds to double the capacity of each room.

The facility also comes with a two-storey medical workers’ quarters complete with toilet and air-conditioning units to guarantee a comfortable and secure temporary housing for frontliners. (DPWH/PIA-NCR)
