CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 5 (PIA) -- Caloocan City Mayor Oscar "Oca" Malapitan announced on Monday that the local government will augment the necessary fund to guarantee that residents will receive free COVID-19 vaccines once these have been approved for widespread use.

Mayor Oca said the city will be shelling out P125 million as an initial fund to procure the vaccines.

"This is to augment ang bakunang ilalaan sa ating lungsod ng Pamahalaang Nasyunal.

The local chief executive added that the P125 million fund is already prepared, however, the local government is capable of allocating some P1 billion additional fund for the vaccine.

Malapitan said this will be made possible through financing by partner banks.
