ZAMBOANGA CITY, March 12 (PIA) - After the initial assistance delivered by the national government to the victims of Typhoon Ulysses’ surge last year, a housing aid and other government’s available programs have offered to some one hundred sixty-nine (169) Muslim beneficiaries in Barangay Taluksangay, Zamboanga City on March 10.
"Nandito kami nung nakaraang taon at nandito kami ngayon dahil ganyan po ang gobyerno ni Pangulong Duterte, hindi nagsasawang tumulong sa mga Pilipinong nangangailangan ng tulong (We're here last year and we're here today because this is how President Duterte's government is like; we don’t get tired of helping Filipinos who are in need),” Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary for Mindanao Affairs Jade Jamolod said.

Jamolod added that this government will never stop giving smiles to people who are grieving.
Through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) Funds by the National Housing Authority (NHA), the 169 Muslim families affected by the storm surge in the community were able to receive cash assistance to reconstruct their shelter, of which 42 families received 10,000 pesos, 48 families handed with 15,000 pesos, 28,000 families obtained 20,000 pesos and 11 families received 30,000 pesos.
The financial assistance lent to the recipients were assessed with the basis on the destruction incurred by the disaster.
"Nagpapasalamat talaga kami sa gobyerno, lalong-lalo na kay Senator Bong Go at Asec. Jamolod sa mga tulong na inihatid dito. Kahit kami ay nasa dulo na ng bansa, narinig at tinugon talaga nila ang sitwasyon namin dito (I'm really grateful to the government, especially to Senator Bong Go and Asec Jamolod for the help delivered here. Even though we are far from metropolis, they heard and really respond to our situation here)”, Mr. Halid Jailani, one of the typhoon victims said.

"Kame ay mahirap lamang at kailangan talaga namin ang gobyerno (We are less fortunate and we really need the government),” Jailani explained.
The different government agencies such as Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Agriculture (DA) and Philippine Information Agency as information arm of the government, have also committed to help especially those who are victims of the natural and man-made calamities.
Moreover, Asec. Jamolod emphasized and reminded the public to accept the COVID-19 vaccines to protect them from having the COVID-19 disease and support the vaccination program that is now being rolled-out in the country.
"We need discipline, dedication, determination as well as always follow the minimum health protocols as the fight against COVID-19 is not yet over,” the Undersecretary disclosed. (RVC/JRA/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
