COMELEC releases schedule; voter registration, certification in NCR Plus remain suspended until May 14

PASIG CITY, May 4 (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced that voter registration remain suspended in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal (NCR Plus) until May 14, 2021 due to the extension of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in said areas.

In an advisory, COMELEC said aside from the NCR Plus areas, the city of Santiago in Isabela and the provinces of Abra and Quirino COMELEC offices will be closed until May 31.

Likewise, other areas placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) or MECQ by their respective local government units (LGUs) for any specific period in the month of May.

Meanwhile, COMELEC offices in areas under the general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) areas will be open Mondays to Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for voter registration and from 8:00AM to 5:00PM for voter’s certification.

COMELEC further announced that the Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) in Intramuros, Manila will be exclusively to voter registration with urgent travel needs for the duration of the MECQ in NCR Plus and other areas.
