DA, Bayombong LGU give cash, food packs for corn farmers

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, May 6 (PIA) - At least 83 corn farmers in this town recently received cash and food pack assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and this local government unit.

Mayor Ralph Lantion said the assistance include cash amounting to P3,000.00 each and grocery packs with eggs and a kilo of chicken, among others to the beneficiaries.

"This will help our farmers in coping up with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We are optimistic that more assistance will come to the people of Bayombong in the coming days," he said.

Municipal Agriculturist Paz Flores said the beneficiaries belong to the registered poor corn farmers, tilling only a hectare and below and registered with their office.

"We hope that more assistance will come for our farmers. The DA might give free rice seeds this coming wet season so that our farmers can rise up from this pandemic," she said. (MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
